We offer our heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives in the Gen-Z uprising that began on September 8. We also wish a speedy recovery to those who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. Our deepest condolences go to the families of the deceased, whose loss is a national tragedy.
At the same time, we strongly condemn the destruction and burning of public and private property across the country, including in the Kathmandu Valley. While the people’s frustration is understandable, violence and vandalism should not overshadow the legitimacy of the movement.
The recent political change was made possible by the collective strength of thousands of Gen-Z demonstrators and the ultimate sacrifice made by many. The government must not delay in compensating their families and addressing their genuine demands. We also support recognizing the deceased as martyrs who gave their lives for the nation’s transformation.
We demand immediate action against those responsible for using lethal force against peaceful protestors—many of whom were deliberately targeted in the head and chest. These actions were not just excessive but criminal. Justice must be served.
The demands raised by the protestors were not personal—they called for good governance, transparency, and an end to widespread corruption—major concern of those Nepalis at home and abroad. The interim government must act urgently to address these issues. We also urge the suspension of the current constitution and an end to the Bhagbanda-based politics that have paralyzed our democracy.
The Gen-Z generation, alert and aware of the system’s failures, must now remain a vigilant watchdog. The corrupt political class, already trying to reassert itself, must be held accountable. Gen-Z must not disappear from the scene—they must stay united and active in building a new, prosperous Nepal.
We also call on Nepali youth living abroad to remain informed and engaged in Nepal’s political developments. Your awareness, solidarity, and support are vital in shaping the country’s future.
Together, we must ensure that the sacrifice of the youth should not go in vain.
