Kathmandu, December 10: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the government is working on the issues related to transitional justice as a high priority.

He was speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 76th International Human Rights Day in Lalitpur on Tuesday. He said the government is working to fill the posts of office-bearers of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission for Investigation of Disappeared Persons keeping transitional justice-related issues in high priority.

He pledged to manage transitional justice in a victim-friendly manner in line with the goals of achieving reconciliation and peace. He said the government was always ready to provide the necessary support to make the works of the National Human Rights Commission more effective and dynamic. Stating that the construction of the commission's building has been delayed despite making a commitment every year, he expressed his commitment to move ahead with the work keeping it in high priority next year.

DPM Poudel said that the provision of budget allocation required for physical and financial resources and other reforms for the central, provincial and branch offices of the Commission would be revised according to the time.
