
Kathmandu, January 16: Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, has said that he wants to turn Lalitpur Metropolitan City into a smart city.
While addressing a workshop on 'Earthquake and Disaster Risk Management' organized in Latipur on the occasion of National Earthquake Safety Day on Thursday, Maharjan expressed his commitment. He said that the reconstruction of the ponds has been completed to make the Metropolis a smart city.
He said, “We are planning to transform Lalitpur Metropolis a smart city. He further said that at least 10 percent larger space is required to develop a smart city but we have only three percent open space”.
He said that environmental improvement is also a priority of the Metropolis. He said that there is some problem due to the lack of open space within the Lalitpur Metropolis.
“Due to lack of open space, morning walk and evening walk cannot be done now. After becoming mayor, I have adopted a policy of not giving even one anna of public land to anybody or organisation,” he said, “I have already taken everything, now I have only three percent of the land left. I don't want to reduce it.”
