Bhaktapur, Jan 23: A clash between two groups has left the Sano Thimi Juvenile Home in Madhyapur Thimi-2, Bhaktapur, looking like a battlefield.
Late last night, a fight broke out among inmates, resulting in arson and vandalism. When officials arrived at the facility on Friday morning, bricks and debris were scattered everywhere.
Authorities have increased police deployment amid fears of further escalation. After learning about the incident, a team led by Thimi Police Station Chief, Navaraj Dhungana, rushed to the juvenile home late last night. Despite their efforts, the situation remained uncontrollable.
Both groups involved began throwing stones at police, heightening tensions. The APF deployed a 50-member unit when the unrest went beyond control. Fire was set by the agitated groups around midnight, requiring fire brigades from Bhaktapur and Kathmandu to extinguish the flames.
The police said a detailed assessment of the damage caused by the clash, vandalism, and fire is still pending.
Although the situation is now under control, a large number of security personnel remain stationed at the facility.
The Sano Thimi Juvenile Home currently houses 169 inmates, including 145 males and 24 females.
