Kathmandu, Aug 14 : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has  said his ruling coalition will remain intact until the 2027 general elections, claiming it has delivered strong results in governance, infrastructure, and the economy despite opposition attempts to create instability.

Presenting his government’s annual performance report to the House of Representatives, Oli accused rivals of ignoring “substantial progress” and dragging politics into “meaningless debates” filled with personal attacks. The current coalition, formed in July last year with Nepali Congress support, will continue to provide political and policy stability, he said.

Without naming him, Oli targeted Rastriya Swatantra Party chief Rabi Lamichhane, mocking claims that the arrest of cooperative scam suspects was politically driven. He noted hundreds, including former ministers and mayors, were jailed for embezzling billions. “If one case is revenge, are all others lawful?” he asked.

Oli listed projects such as the bridge linking Humla’s Simkot to the national network, discovery of 112 billion cubic metres of natural gas in Dailekh, and iron ore in Nawalparasi. He highlighted infrastructure works like the Narayangadh-Butwal road (70 percent complete), progress on the Nagdhunga-Naubise and Siddhababa tunnels, the operational Gwarko overpass, and expansion plans for Kirtipur Cricket Stadium.

He claimed 23 bills were passed since his return to office compared to 14 under the previous government. Education pass rates in grades 10 and 12 rose by 14 and 9 percentage points, respectively. In health, cancer, heart, burn, and kidney treatment facilities expanded, HPV vaccines became part of regular immunisation, and 55 basic hospitals opened in local units.

Economic growth reached 4.6 percent, up from 3.7 percent a year earlier, adding Rs400 billion to GDP. Revenue collection grew 11.3 percent, remittances surged 15.5 percent to Rs1.53 trillion, and foreign reserves could cover 14.7 months of imports. Exports hit a record, and electricity sales earned Rs17.45 billion from India and Rs260 million from Bangladesh.

Rejecting predictions his government would collapse, Oli said, “This coalition will continue until 2027 to ensure stability and prosperity.” Urging a positive outlook, he added, “The work of this government is half full, not half empty.”
