Melamchi water will stop in the Valley from Friday
Kathmandu, June 21: Melamchi's water supply will be stopped in the Kathmandu Valley from today. According to the Melamchi Water Supply Development Committee, the main entrance of the tunnel will be closed as the risk of flooding may increase when the flow of water in the Melamchi River increases during the rainy season.
Due to the danger of flooding and the river becoming muddy when the flow of water in the Melamchi River is high, the main gate of the tunnel of the Melamchi Water Supply Project located at Ambathan in Sindhupalchok is about to be closed.
According to the Water Development Committee, preparations are being made to start sending water from Melamchi to the Valley only when the monsoon subsides as the risk of disaster will remain during the monsoon period. Melamchi will also be redistributed in the valley only after the risk of monsoon is over.
