Kathmandu, 23 October: Nepal Standards and Metrology Department (NSMD) has booked a total of 85 industries and commercial firms for not abiding by the Nepal Standards Act.

The NSMD acted against those firms in the first three months of the current fiscal year in accordance to the Standard Measurement and Weight Act, 2025. According to NSMD, firms running without their renewal and using the measurement units without receiving license were punished.

During the period, the NSMD carried out monitoring works of 690 firms including 151 groceries, 32 whole-sellers, 60 industries, 53 fruits and vegetable shops, 38 meat shops, 19 LP gas industries, 90 petrol pumps, 145 jewelries and 103 other firms.
