Much to the chagrin of the present government, there is more bad news on the economic front, even as it cannot sort out political dissent in a peaceful and human manner.
The UNDP has released figures saying that Nepal seriously lacks in human development priorities. In a report published on Thursday last, UNDP action Resident Representative Jorgen Lissner mentions that Nepal has been able to spend only 2 per cent of its GNP in the last five years on the highest priority sector. Unless Nepal spends 5 percent of more of its GNP on these priority sectors, the poorest of the poor will not get a chance to improve their life.
