We are in a country where foreign-funded newspapers are flooded and they serve the interests of the country from where they receive financial support.
One English broadsheet daily, THT, didn’t write a single word about the Indo-Chinese agreement in opening a new trade route via Lipulekh, a Nepali territory. It is very shameful for those Nepali journalists working there.
It seems Nepal has become a playground for foreigners. Some media openly advocate the goals set by the Open Society, some are serving Indian interests and those advocating for the nation’s interests are suffering from a financial crunch as they are suffering from an embargo on advertisements.
What to do when they vote for me: Sher Bahadur Deuba
We know that Sher Bahadur Deuba is the most incapable political leader, who is a prime minister in waiting for the seventh time.
In a public meeting recently, Deuba satirized his voters, saying, “What can I do when people vote for me”?
We just know that he had distributed five thousand rupees each to the voters just to buy votes. Be that as it may, they become victorious by buying votes but the price for votes is very cheap in Nepal and the voters are innocent.
Teej and Dar
The Teej festival was observed on Tuesday by fasting the whole day for the better health and happiness of husbands by wives.
Also, unmarried girls took part in the fasting event, wishing good life partner.
According to tradition, the womenfolk eat Dar one day ahead of the Teej festival. Presently, the Dar event starts one month ahead and every evening, the Dar festival is organized. Even the Ward Office under the municipalities was found organizing the Dar festival by inviting the womenfolk in their wards. The festival has also become an event to influence the voters. The Ward Offices could spend the funds spent on Dar on providing different types of vocational training, making women skilled for income generation. Do they listen to this Babbler?
Dar with Daru
The country has been spoiled from all sides. Along with the deterioration of our political culture, our culture, tradition and lifestyles have also been spoiled.
The womenfolk are observing the Dar event for more than a month and the Dar menu also includes Daru (alcohol).
Anyway, we have to cope with the changes! Cheers!!
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, commenting on the 19 August consensus with India, said in Pakistan, “the consensus is not against any third party.” Nepal can freely base its territorial legitimate claims on Wang`s this solemn declaration and approach China diplomatically.

Diplomacy under the republican Nepal is in doldrums. Neither China trusts us, nor India. Do the leaders have the courage to internationalize the issue of occupying Nepali soil? Why should Prime Minister Oli visit China and India, with a jumbo team?
Dwarika Nath Dhungel
During the recent visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to India, an agreement was signed between the two countries on August 19, 2025, to resume trade through Lipulekh on Nepali soil. The action is objectionable and reprehensible.
Ratan Bhandari
With reference to Lipulekh: The two neighbors should not make a deal on the territory of Nepal without Nepal’s presence. The government of Nepal should not hesitate to put its point in front of both sides. In 2015, the government of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had protested; the present government should not delay in protesting.

The vice-chancellor’s post is also in Bhagbanda (political sharing)! I am not affiliated with any political party yet. Can't I be the vice-chancellor of the university?
Sudhamshu K.C.
It is now impossible for any qualified, experienced and talented person to be appointed to public office in the country without the shadow of some party and some powerful don within it! The atmosphere is being prepared for a people's revolt!

Eleven years ago, when Nepal's universities were turning into political playgrounds, I had promised to serve as an independent professor in the University, denying being a slave of any political party. This promise of mine was a Satyagraha movement and although I found many who tried to give moral support to it, but didn’t dare to do it as they could be avoided from getting promotion and other benefits. How much is the over-politicization of the university costing the university day by day? It is not the job of every teacher and student.

I had been to the Prime Minister's Office some time ago to attend a program. While going there, tea and biscuits were served to us. The tea was ordinary black tea, but the biscuits were made in Malaysia. I myself live in Balaju, where there are biscuit industries. There are a variety of biscuits produced in Nepal. I felt bad to see foreign biscuits being served at the Prime Minister 's Office.
It also made me think: Is there no quality in Nepali products? If the Prime Minister himself has doubts about the quality of Nepali, will he improve it, or will he order biscuits from Malaysia? This question is still in my mind. Should Nepali products be given priority at least in government offices?

The inhabitants of many villages in Nepal are suffering hard in the hope of a better life. There is no access to quality health care, and no safe way to get to the hospital. Patients are forced to walk long distances, sometimes crossing dangerous paths. Children, the elderly and seriously ill people are most at risk. The lack of health care and basic infrastructure has filled their lives with daily struggles and suffering.

Crime is on the rise in the country and journalists, police personnel and the general public are not safe. Attacks on the Dalit community in places where journalists live in Dhanusha and Saptari, and illegal smuggling in the border areas have made the general public insecure. The government has failed to control these crimes.

We have adopted a system of accountability. But there's no one to answer about it! 25 chief ministers, 266 ministers in two-and-a-half years?

(Commenting on the leg-crossed sitting of the Indian external affairs secretary): Why such disrespectful behavior of an employee of a neighboring country in a meeting with a person like the Prime Minister of the country? Isn't this the result of our character of surrenderism? We have always been conditioned to see a picture of ourselves until we change ourselves and our instincts...!

If two Englishmen meet, they talk about opening a club! If two Indians meet, they plan opening of a company. If two Bangladeshis meet, they plan to open an NGO! When two Nepalese get together, they talk about opening a party and finally form two factions.

Lipulekh is Nepal’s territory. India and China cannot decide on this route bilaterally without Nepal’s consent-doing so violates international law and reflects hegemony. PM Sushil Koirala’s government raised this concern long ago, yet our neighbors remain unneighborly.
