Kathmandu, April 28: The Kathmandu District Court granted permission on Sunday to detain Nepali Congress MP Maya Rai for three days for further investigation.
Police arrested her from her residence in Kapan on Saturday night on the charge of her involvement in the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud and organized crime case.
Rai was on the Police wanted list but they could not arrest her as she was under the protection of the Nepali Congress.
Recently, she had gone to the Parliament Secretariat and withdrawn her salaries and allowances. When some media disclosed the report, the Home Ministry was compelled to give an arrest order to the Police.
