Kathmandu, April 26: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged for the enactment of laws as soon as possible to address the voices of discontent.
Addressing the sixth session of the House of Representatives, Speaker Ghimire said that a common commitment from all is needed to finalize the laws to be formulated by the parliament as soon as possible. The main responsibility of Parliament is to make laws for the country, the Speaker said. "To address the voices of dissatisfaction seen at the failure to make laws promptly, we all need a shared commitment to finalize the laws that Parliament needs to make as soon as possible."
The Speaker said that only by increasing the effectiveness of Parliament we can help strengthen democracy and build good governance, accountability, and a responsive governance system. "I appeal to make the upcoming session a success as only an effective parliament can formulate appropriate policies and laws to solve the country's problems and contribute to social justice, economic development, and national prosperity," said Speaker Ghimire.
Keeping in mind the workload of the Parliament during the budget session, the Speaker has done his homework to finalize the School Education Bill and the Federal Civil Service Bill by conducting the Parliament except on Saturdays and public holidays. Time has been reserved in the upcoming calendar of Parliament to advance important bills including education and civil service, even between policies and programs and the budget.
