Kathmandu, Feb 1: CPN UML chair KP Sharma Oli has called for an immediate verdict on the House of Representatives restoration case.

Addressing an election gathering organised by the UML Okhaldhunga Kathmandu Contact Forum in Kathmandu on Saturday, Oli said that if the court stays silent when the country is in a constitutional problem, questions can arise about the court’s role. He urged a quick decision on the restoration case.

He said the Supreme Court cannot remain silent while debates continue that the dissolution of the House went against the constitution. He made it clear that his party will accept any order the court issues on the restoration case.

Oli also said the government must remain neutral and hold elections in a peaceful and fear-free environment. If the government engages in helping someone win or lose, such an election and its results will not be acceptable, he said.

He warned that a mindset that the government can do anything will harm both the country and the government. He noted that even though the election date has been set for March 5, 2026, it is difficult to hold elections in the Himalayan areas.

In another context, Oli argued that those preparing to compete against him in Jhapa 5 have no organisation, policy, programme, or objective. Calling his rivals “wind eggs,” he remarked that chicks do not hatch from such eggs. He accused them of glorifying arson and vandalism as revolution and of making various allegations against old parties. He claimed that only UML has the strength to build the country and insisted that voters will make his party successful in this election.
