Kathmandu, Nov 29: Prime Minister Sushila Karki visited Nepal Army headquarters at Jangi Adda to review security preparations for the upcoming elections. The Army briefed her on the current security situation, challenges and planned measures. The Prime Minister’s Office said she was also briefed on the plan and structure for deploying the Army during the polls.
PM Karki said the government formed after the movement carries the responsibility to restore order and conduct the House of Representatives election on March 4. She expressed confidence that the Army would fulfil its role to ensure a free, fair and safe election.
She instructed security agencies to work with a clear plan to reassure citizens, support police operations, and allow political parties to carry out their activities without obstruction. She repeated her earlier stance that not a single drop of blood should be shed in this election and no one should be injured.
Karki also asked the Army to help recover looted or missing weapons taken during the ‘Gen Z’ protests and assist police in arresting those still at large. The Home Minister, Law Minister, Chief Secretary, and Army Chief Ashokraj Sigdel were present at the briefing.
