Kathmandu, September 11: Commercial banks have started to open in the Kathmandu Valley amid the curfew and prohibition orders imposed by the local administrations.
The banks, which were closed on Monday following the Gen Z movement taking a violent turn, have been back in operation since Thursday.
During the movement, there was arson and looting at banks in various places.
The Bankers’ Association, an organization of bank CEOs, has decided to open banks for four hours on Thursday. Banks will remain open from 10 am to 2 pm. The Association has asked to operate a maximum of three branches.
In compliance with the decision of the Association, commercial banks in Kathmandu are now providing limited services from their branch offices, while development banks have also started providing services in a phased manner.
Along with this, other financial service providers have also partially resumed services from today.
