
Kathmandu, Feb 5 Five Bangladeshi nationals were found being held hostage at a house in Bhangal, Budhanilkantha–8, after being lured with a promise of foreign employment in Italy.
According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the victims were rescued from the house where they had been kept against their will.
Police have arrested seven people involved in the incident. Those arrested include five Bangladeshi nationals, one Indian national, and one Nepali national.
SP Bhattarai said the Kathmandu District Court has granted a five-day remand to investigate the suspects on charges related to human confinement and fraud.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals are 38-year-old Al Mamun, 39-year-old Bilal, 29-year-old Rivan Biswas, 43-year-old Babu Hu, and 40-year-old YMD Masibur Rahman. The Indian national arrested is 41-year-old Saroj Kumar, while the Nepali national is 32-year-old Sashi Pathak from Nuwakot.
