
Kathmandu, February 2: During the first six months of the current fiscal year, Nepal recorded remittance inflows exceeding NPR 1.05 trillion.
According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report made public by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday, remittance inflows during the first six months of fiscal year 2082/83 increased by 39.1 percent to reach NPR 1.06293 trillion.
In the same period of the previous year, remittance inflows had increased by 4.2 percent. In the month of Poush 2082, remittance inflows stood at NPR 192.62 billion, compared to NPR 122.44 billion in the same month of the previous year.
During the review period, remittance inflows in U.S. dollars increased by 32.3 percent to USD 7.50 billion. In the corresponding period of the previous year, such inflows had grown by 2.7 percent.
During the review period, net secondary income (net transfers) reached NPR 1.16802 trillion. In the same period of the previous year, such income amounted to NPR 833.86 billion.
During the review period, the number of Nepalis obtaining final labor approval (institutional and individual—new) for foreign employment stood at 206,807, while 194,733 Nepalis obtained re-approval for labor permits.
In the corresponding period of the previous year, these numbers were 230,439 and 162,628 respectively.
