Kathmandu, February 1: In view of the deteriorating security and political situation in Iran, the Government of Nepal has requested Nepali citizens residing in or employed in Iran to leave the country safely as soon as possible by using any available means.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this request through a public notice issued on Sunday. The Ministry has also advised postponing any plans to travel to Iran until the situation returns to normal.

The Ministry has urged Nepali citizens currently in Iran to keep all travel documents, including passports and identity cards, ready so that they can exit the country easily in case of an emergency.

Recalling that the Ministry had earlier issued a travel advisory related to Iran on January 13, 2026, it has also instructed citizens to comply with that notice as well.

For coordination and necessary assistance, the Ministry stated that contact can be made with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu and the Embassy of Nepal in Doha, Qatar.
