Kathmandu, Jan 29: Dense fog covered the Kathmandu Valley and several districts of the Tarai Madhesh this morning, disrupting air services due to poor visibility.
At Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, domestic arrivals were suspended. Morning flights at airports including Bhadrapur, Janakpur, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi faced delays.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the fog formed after rainfall yesterday. During evaporation, cooler temperatures in the upper atmosphere pushed tiny water particles downward, causing them to linger near the ground and create fog.
Meteorologists said the condition is expected to ease gradually from the afternoon.
“Foggy conditions are likely to appear during morning hours for the next two days, today and tomorrow,” said weather expert Dr Dharmaraj Upreti.
