
Kathmandu, Jn 29: The Election Commission of Nepal has sought explanations from several candidates contesting the House of Representatives election, including CK Raut, Khagendra Sunar, and Nisha Adhikari.
On Wednesday, the Commission asked them to submit clarifications. Raut, a candidate from Saptari constituency number 2, was asked to respond within three days after a complaint alleged that he displayed his election symbol and flags by constructing decorative arches at a public place, specifically a road junction.
Similarly, the Commission asked Adhikari, a candidate from Kathmandu constituency number 5 representing the Dynamic Democratic Party, to submit an explanation within three days. A complaint filed with the Commission claimed that volunteer application forms were sent to Nepalis living in Australia, inviting them to support her campaign through QR code payments.
The Commission also sought a three-day explanation from Khagendra Sunar, a candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party from Banke constituency number 3.
According to the Commission, information had been received alleging that Sunar circulated content that could incite communal discord by referring to the national animal, the cow. The Commission asked him to clarify if his actions violated the election code of conduct.
