
Kathmandu, January 25: The common candidates of the NC and UML have won the National Assembly elections held today. The NC, UML, and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) had formed an electoral alliance, sharing 18 seats for the NA.
LSP’s Mahanta Thakur filed his candidacy for one seat allotted to the party by the NC–UML alliance.
The Socialist Party, chaired by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, fielded candidates for all 17 seats but was defeated in the elections.
Out of 18 vacant seats, 17 individuals have been elected today, and one will be appointed by the President on the recommendation of the government.
