KATHMANDU, Jan 25: Dipendra Agrawal, a central member of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, has joined CPN-UML. In a program held today at the UML central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli formally inducted Agrawal by placing a khada and tika.
Agrawal is a share trader who was previously arrested on fraud charges and released on bail. He faced allegations of defrauding investors of NPR 64.5 million by promising shares but failing to deliver them. Investigations had also been conducted against him for cheating investors under the name of Goldman Investment.
Agrawal reportedly promoted buying and selling shares of certain companies through Clubhouse and other social media platforms. He was also accused of trading shares he had sold himself to manipulate the market.
He was arrested on 5 Shrawan and released on bail on 15 Shrawan.
