Kathmandu, Jan 24: Nagarik Unmukti Party patron Resham Lal Chaudhary has moved the Supreme Court against the Election Commission’s decision to cancel his House of Representatives candidacy from Kailali 1.

The election officer rejected his nomination, citing legal ineligibility, based on a Supreme Court verdict that sentenced him to life imprisonment in the Tikapur violence case. Chaudhary has sought an interim order to reinstate his candidacy. The court has scheduled a hearing for January 25.
