
Kathmandu, Jan 23: The second National Conference on Cyber Security and Cyber Fraud Prevention will be held in Kathmandu on January 28, jointly organized by Kathmandu Fintech and PCI SSC.
The conference comes in response to the rising cyber risks and fraud incidents in banks, financial institutions, and the fintech sector. Renowned national and international experts will share their insights and recommendations on cybersecurity, fraud control, and risk management.
The keynote speaker will be Deepak Kumar, head of the Banking Technology, Cyber Security, and Research Training Center (IDRBT) under India’s central bank (RBI) and a former central banker. He will address cyber security, KYC systems, and digital risk management in the banking sector.
A key focus of the program will be measures to protect bank and financial institution customers from cyber fraud. In Nepal, cyber fraud incidents involving billions of rupees have already been reported, with both the number and complexity of such crimes steadily increasing. Many cases involve unauthorized access to customer accounts through various schemes.
HDFC Bank of India will present its successful experience in combating cyber fraud. Renowned banker Manish Agrawal, who led the initiative, will share practical strategies, effective measures, and real-life cases, including his experience in deactivating mule accounts successfully.
Additionally, Krishna Shastri, member of the RBI Cyber Security Standing Committee, Interpol trainer, and Cyber Partner at Ernst & Young, will present on cyber risks, international practices, and regulatory approaches.
The conference will also feature presentations from Visa, one of the world’s leading card network operators, and active participation from senior bankers, cybersecurity experts, and specialists from Nepal’s banking sector.
