
Kathmandu, Jan 22: The Election Commission is set to publish the list of candidates for the House of Representatives today. The commission said it will release the names of candidates who filed their nominations on Tuesday.
After the nomination process ended on Tuesday evening, the commission received complaints against candidates on Wednesday. Complaints related to candidate eligibility were filed from 10 am to 3 pm.
The commission has already completed the review of the registered complaints. With this process over, it plans to publish the candidates’ list today from 5 pm to 7 pm.
According to the election schedule, candidates may withdraw their nominations on Friday, Jan 23, from 10 am to 1 pm. The final list of candidates will be published the same day between 1 pm and 3 pm. Election symbols will be allocated from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday.
Based on the information received so far, a total of 3,486 candidacies have been registered. This includes 3,089 men, 396 women, and one-third gender candidates.
This election is being held before the House of Representatives could complete its term, following the dissolution of parliament amid the Gen Z movement. The interim government led by Sushila Karki has set March 5, 2026, as the election date.
A total of 18,903,689 voters will take part in the election. This includes 9,663,358 men, 9,240,131 women, and 200 voters listed under other categories.
