Kathmandu, Sept 29: The High-Level Judicial Inquiry Commission probing the September 8–9 Gen Z protests has barred former PM KP Sharma Oli, ex–Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and three senior officials from leaving Kathmandu Valley without permission.

Their passports have been restricted, and they may be summoned anytime. Those named include former Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, ex–NID chief Hutraj Thapa, and former CDO Chabilal Rijal.
The protests saw 74 deaths and major government buildings torched before the army intervened, forcing Oli to resign. Civil society and constitutional experts called the commission’s step necessary for impartial investigation and healing public trust.
