Kathmandu, Sept 22: Mahabir Pun, recommended as Minister for Education, Science and Technology, has requested people not to address him as a minister.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki recommended his name for minister to the President on Sunday, after which he made this request.
In a Facebook post, which he called his first announcement, Magsaysay award winner Pun wrote, “Please don’t call me minister. If someone is desperate to call me minister, call me a scrap scientist minister.”
He also asked people not to call to congratulate him or bring ceremonial scarves or garlands. Instead, he requested that anyone with concrete ideas or tasks that can and must be done in five months in the education, science, and technology sector share them with him on WhatsApp.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed ministers has been scheduled for 2 PM today at Sheetal Niwas.
