
Kathmandu, September 22: The Money Laundering Investigation Department has started an investigation by collecting burnt notes and ash from the houses of Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and former Minister Deepak Khadka. A video of the burning of Nepali and foreign currency in both houses after the arson during the ‘Gen-Z’ movement in September 8 was published on social media.
The Department is preparing to collect samples from the spot and conduct forensic tests. The Department has said that if the currency note is confirmed, an investigation will be carried out according to the Money Laundering Act.
Similarly, the Department is also preparing to inspect the house of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda in Khumaltar. Dahal is currently living elsewhere while police have been deployed at the residence.
