Kathmandu, Sept 20 Continuous rain over the past few days has triggered floods and landslides, blocking seven highways across the country.

Nepal Police spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire said clearing work is ongoing in those areas. According to him, the Bhotkhola section of the Koshi Highway is completely blocked.

Another section at Ekuwa in Makalu Rural Municipality on the same highway is also blocked. Similarly, a landslide has blocked the road at Sirise in Katari Municipality-8 along the Siddhicharan Highway. Flooding has also blocked the road at Miteri Bridge, which links Rasuwa with China.

Landslides have blocked both Kodari and Daklang areas in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality along the Araniko Highway.

A landslide at Tuiun Khola in Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan, has blocked the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. Police said landslides started falling on Friday evening and have continued this morning, making clearance difficult.

The Kaligandaki Corridor, Ratna Highway, and Galchi-Trishuli section of the East-West Highway are open only in one-way traffic.
