Kathmandu, Sept 20: During the protests carried out in the name of Gen-Z youths on September 9, 629 buildings across various sectors in the country were destroyed. More than 1,560 buildings suffered partial damage.

According to Nepal Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, the damage was caused by vandalism and arson during the protests, and police have compiled preliminary data. Of the total, 177 police buildings were destroyed, and 258 suffered partial damage.
Ghimire said 310 government offices were destroyed, while 836 government buildings sustained partial damage.
Similarly, 97 commercial and private buildings were destroyed, and 292 were partially damaged.
The data also show that 45 party offices belonging to various political parties were completely destroyed, and 174 were partially damaged. Ghimire said the assessment of the losses has not been completed, and data collection is still underway.
