Kathmandu, Sept 18:  Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone on Monday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the call, made from Karki’s office at Singha Durbar, lasted more than 30 minutes. Modi praised Karki’s handling of Nepal’s ongoing political and social challenges and expressed sorrow over recent loss of lives and property. He assured India’s readiness to assist Nepal if needed.

Karki thanked Modi, offered birthday greetings, and said she hoped relations between the two neighbors would grow stronger.

Modi later wrote on X that the two leaders had a “warm conversation,” during which he expressed condolences, pledged India’s continued support for peace and stability in Nepal, and extended best wishes to the Nepali people ahead of their National Day.
