Kathmandu, September 14: The printing and distribution of driver’s licenses has been suspended for indefinite period.
The Department of Transport Management has informed that the offices that print and distribute licenses were completely vandalized and burnt during the Gen Z protests on September 8 and 9.
During the protests the Department of Transport Management's structures were vandalized, burnt, and stolen/looted, resulting in damage to electronic equipment, printing machines, and servers, as well as damage to driver's licenses. Due to the extraordinary circumstances in which the electric vehicle registration service has been disrupted, the printing and distribution of driver's licenses will be suspended until further notice. "We request information regarding the closure of all information technology systems," the Department said.
