
Kathmandu, September 12: Talks on the formation of an interim government, which were scheduled for 9 am today at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, have been postponed to 2 pm due to internal preparations.
A source in the President’s Office said the reason for the postponement of the talks was “internal preparations.”
President Ram Chandra Paudel has been discussing the formation of an interim government with constitutional experts, judges, political party leaders, and representatives of the Gen Z movement.
Although an initial consensus was reached on giving the leadership of the interim government to former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, the final agreement could not be reached due to the unclear constitutional process. According to Article 76 of the Constitution, the provision that the prime minister should be a member of the House of Representatives has complicated the process.
On the same subject, President Paudel discussed the possibility of exercising the” obstruction removal right under Article 61 (4) of the Constitution, sources say.
Meanwhile, youths of the Gen Z movement, which is demanding the dissolution of parliament, is exerting pressure on the political dialogue.
