Kathmandu, Sept 4: Former minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Sudan Kirati has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of exaggerating the issue related to Lipulekh.

During his recent visit to China, PM Oli raised concerns with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding the agreement between India and China on cross-border trade through the Lipulekh route, which lies on Nepalese territory. This matter was widely circulated by UML leaders on social media.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Kirati wrote on Facebook on Thursday that attempts were made to portray Oli as a god through exaggerated publicity. He stated, “Along with your China visit, there was a wrongful effort to glorify you through exaggerated promotion regarding Lipulekh. But the reactions coming in now raise a serious doubt: could there be something stuck in our throats? If that is the case, diplomacy cannot be limited to mere impulsive acts, provocations, or emotions. Time will eventually reveal the truth.”

Kirati also questioned, “If the publicity is as portrayed, will China now retract the agreement made with India?”

He further challenged the PM’s commitment to nationalism and the Lipulekh issue, asking whether he would have the courage to include Nepal’s official map in school curricula.

Additionally, Kirati questioned whether Nepal supporting China’s military alliance, GSI, is in violation of the constitution.
