
Kathmandu, Sept 4 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli returned home on Wednesday night after completing a five-day official visit to China. He was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and other senior officials.
At a press briefing, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai briefed reporters about Oli’s meetings and discussions in China. He also confirmed that preparations are now underway for Oli’s upcoming visit to India.
When asked by journalists, “Will Nepal now focus on India?”, Rai replied, “Certainly.” He added that Nepal always prepares its priorities and positions in advance.
Responding to a query whether Nepal would raise its issues in India the same way Oli did in China. Rai responded, “Nepal always remains prepared with its priorities and positions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is always ready.”
Rai stressed that Nepal will continue to act according to the basic principles of its foreign policy. He also informed that during the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping had thanked Prime Minister Oli for supporting the “One China Policy.”
