Kathmandu, Sept 2: The government has stepped back from its stance on the age limit in the Civil Service Bill. Minister for General Administration Bhagwati Nyaupane had earlier defended the age limit during the committee meeting.
However, after it became clear that her position would be in the minority, she informed today’s committee meeting that she had no personal interest or gain and was withdrawing her stance.
“Let’s not break the trend of going forward by consensus in the National Assembly. Let’s proceed unanimously. I had asked for time until yesterday. The Prime Minister is not in the country. Let’s not let the majority end up in the minority,” she said.
Now, the age limit provisions proposed by the House of Representatives will remain in effect.
