
Sana, Aug 30: Israel carried out heavy airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sana, on August 28. The strikes targeted several key hideouts and leaders of the Houthi rebels. According to media reports, Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahwi was killed in the attack.
Houthi Defense Minister Mohammed al-Atti and senior official Mohammed Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari were also targeted, and they are feared dead. The airstrikes came after the Houthis had launched missile and drone attacks on Israel. In response, the Israeli military bombed Sana as retaliation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in a statement, confirmed that the strikes targeted Houthi military bases and the presidential palace. Local Yemeni officials said at least 10 people have been killed so far, with more than 90 others injured. Many of the wounded are reported to be in critical condition.
