Kathmandu, Aug 30. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has suggested Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who left for China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, to raise the issue of Lipulekh.
Oli departed for China this morning on a Himalaya Airlines chartered flight. About two hours after his departure, Mayor Balen posted on Facebook, urging him to remind China that Lipulekh belongs to Nepal.
“Best wishes for your China visit, Prime Minister,” Balen wrote. The India-China agreement to resume trade through Nepal’s Lipulekh pass has undermined our sovereignty. Please do not forget to remind China that Lipulekh is ours.

The Lipulekh issue resurfaced after India and China agreed to reopen trade through the tri-junction pass without informing Nepal.
