Kathmandu, Aug 25: The Special Court has ordered the release of former Executive Director of the National Information Technology Center, Sunil Paudel, on bail of Rs 100,000 in one corruption case.
The bench of Chairman Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar and members Murari Babu Shrestha and Vidur Koirala issued the order on Sunday. According to court spokesperson Yagya Raj Regmi, Paudel was accused of colluding to supply substandard materials in the purchase of a “high computer infrastructure” for the center, causing a loss of Rs 158.85 million to the state.
Although the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed the case on July 11, 2025, Paudel had already been in Dillibazar prison for other cases. The court summoned him for a statement and hearing, after which the bail order was issued.
Regmi clarified that the bail applies only to this single case, while Paudel must remain in custody due to other ongoing corruption cases.
