Kathmandu, August 15: A meeting of the Parsa District Health Crisis Management Committee held on Sunday decided not to approve non-essential leave for health workers to avoid a shortage of health manpower during the pandemic.

In the meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Sumankumar Karki, it was decided that the local-level health workers who are needed in the wake of the outbreak of cholera in Parsa can be sent to the centrally designated health institutions.

Minister for Health and Population Satrughan Prasad Singh was also present in the meeting.

At the meeting, Prajya Karki said that it has been decided to conduct a door-to-door campaign for awareness raising immediately by managing the necessary materials in coordination with all the agencies for the prevention of diarrhoea and cholera.

The meeting decided to build a ‘bridge’ of additional manpower and resources received from the federal government and the provincial government and distribute, manage and monitor them through the District Health Crisis Management Committee.

It has been decided to investigate the epidemic for the ‘source of infection identification’, to conduct the relevant local level and to provide the necessary technical support to the provincial and federal health and population ministries.

Above 80 patients are suffering from cholera.
