Kathmandu, August 21: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding that the government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli be declared a caretaker one.
Advocate Birendra KC has filed a writ petition alleging violation of the constitution's provision that requires a vote of confidence after the coalition partners withdraw support.
The filing of the writ petition, in which the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers are named as the defendant, has been scheduled to be presented for judicial verdict scheduled for tomorrow.

The Janata Samajwadi Nepal and the Nagarik Unmukti Party have withdrawn their support from the government. The government argues that the names of these two parties were not included in the signatures submitted to the President’s Office when the government was formed; therefore, when they withdraw support, the government doesn’t need to hold a vote of confidence.
