Nepal stands today as a nation betrayed by its own political leaders. Entrusted with building an economically prosperous nation, they instead chose the path of corruption, greed, and self-interest. Their obsession with power and personal gain has left the country trapped in economic stagnation, political instability, and public despair.
Since 1990, every political shift promised hope—democracy, prosperity and inclusion. Yet these political changes were reduced to tools for bargaining and enrichment. Development projects became avenues for commissions, foreign loans turned into sources of easy money, and state institutions were deliberately weakened to shield wrongdoers. Corruption, once a vice, is now a culture.
Our leaders are short-sighted. Rather than framing long-term plans for industrial growth, education, or employment, they focus only on retaining power. As a result, millions of youths are forced abroad in search of work, while those at home face soaring prices, weak services, and hopelessness. Nepal’s natural resources and human potential remain untapped, wasted by leaders who see the state as a private estate.
Worse, they exploit divisions of caste, ethnicity, and geography to build vote banks, but abandon those very people once elections are over. This politics of manipulation has corroded national unity and eroded trust in democracy itself.
The tragedy is not just corruption—it is betrayal. The sacrifices of countless citizens for democracy and justice have been dishonored by leaders who enrich themselves while the nation suffers. History will remember them as power-hungry men and women who ruined Nepal for personal gain.
It is time for the people to demand accountability and vision. Nepal deserves leaders who place the nation above self, service above greed, and the future above power games. The present generation must rise to correct the course—before it is too late.
