Kathmandu, Aug 19: The leadership of the Nepal Red Cross Society Kathmandu District Branch has been elected unanimously
Shyam Kaji Dotel has been re-elected as the president of the district committee through the 45th general convention. Dotel was unanimously re-elected for a second term as president.
Bishnu Man Manandhar was elected as vice president and Anjana Shrestha Maske as women vice president. Other elected members include Briddhi Man Shakya as minister, Laxmi Ratna Tuladhar as treasurer, Nawaraj Bhandari as deputy minister, and Sharmila Shrestha Rajbhandari as deputy treasurer.
Similarly, Manju Aryal Khatriwada, Laxmi Karki Khadka, and Goma Baral were elected as women members, while Amrit Narayan Manandhar, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Laxmi Prasad Kuinkel, Vidur Prasad Bhattarai, Nawaraj Kafle, Vidur Raj Upreti, and Ishwar Lama were elected as members.
A program was also held to thank and honor the district delegates and the election official who took part in the process.
On the occasion, president Shyam Kaji Dotel said that the election process was started as soon as a letter was received from the Red Cross central office. According to him, since there was a risk of the district branch becoming inactive or having to form an ad hoc committee, the election was held on time.
“Since we came here to serve society, holding the election smoothly is more important than the positions themselves,” Dotel said. He pledged to work on the basis of consensus and cooperation, adding that the new committee was free from the “habit of unnecessary criticism.”
Dotel recalled that the Red Cross Kathmandu District Branch had successfully constructed a school building in Bajhang, which created a proper classroom environment for students. “The name of Kathmandu District Red Cross will always remain there,” he said. He also added that working together in unity helps the organization remain free from external pressure.
President Dotel urged everyone to continue focusing on humanitarian service and also extended greetings on the occasion of Haritalika Teej.
