
Kathmandu, August 18: A joint team of the Armed Police Force Nepal and the Chinese border security force inspected the border pillars along the Nepal-China border at Kimathanka Pass in the northern area of Sankhuwasabha District.
A joint team of Kimathanka BOP under Armed Police Force Nepal No. 4 Arun Gulm, Chainpur, and Chinese security force inspected the Nepal-China border pillars along the border with China's Atonomous Region of Tibet, in the northern region of Bhotkhola Municipality-1.
Armed Police Force Nepal No. 4 Arun Gulm Chainpur Deputy Superintendent of Police Baburam Poudel informed that the team inspected five border pillars under Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-1 in the northern region.
A joint team of seven personnel led by Naveen Khatiwada, in-charge of the Armed Police Force Border Security Post (APBOP) Kimathanka, eight personnel led by Dawa Chiring, deputy superintendent of police of Tibet Autonomous Region of China, and four personnel of Nepal Police inspected the border pillars.
The joint security team inspected and observed the border pillars of 66, 67, 68/2, 69/1 and 69/2 at Kimathanka Pass, the position of the border pillars and other issues.
There are 21 border pillars on the Nepal-China border in Sankhuwasabha. The Nepal-China international border at Kimathanka is said to be very old. Last month's floods had washed away the 71/1 boundary pillar. The Border Security Force was established in 2016.
The 71/1 boundary pillar, which was washed away by the flood in Dongopakhola and Chhokangkhola of Bhotkhola-1, has not been found yet. Bhotkhola Villages 1, 2 and 3 are connected to the territory of neighboring China. There are about 5,000 residents in the area. They go to the border market and earn a living by doing daily jobs.
