
Kathmandu, Aug 18: Padma Joshi, the mother of Bipin Joshi, who was taken hostage by Hamas, has met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Israel to seek her son’s release.
On Sunday, Padma Joshi, Bipin’s sister Pushpa Joshi, and Nepal’s Ambassador to Israel, Dhan Prasad Pandit, held a courtesy meeting with the Israeli President. During the meeting, Bipin’s mother requested the President to take steps for her son’s early release. Similarly, Pushpa Joshi explained that her brother came to Israel as a student and urged that every possible effort be made to secure his release.
Ambassador Pandit also requested the President to make additional efforts and provide updates regarding Bipin Joshi’s situation. President Herzog reportedly said he felt Bipin was like his own citizen and confirmed that the government was working to secure his release.
On the same day, they also met with Amir Ohana, the Speaker of the Israeli Parliament, to appeal for Bipin Joshi’s release.
Padma and Pushpa Joshi had traveled to Israel a week ago. Israel brought them to the country to increase international pressure for Bipin’s release.
Bipin, who went to Israel for the “Learning While Earning” program, has been out of contact with his family since Saturday, 20 Ashoj 2080 (October 6, 2023).
