
KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Kuwaiti authorities have arrested 67 people, including two Nepalis, for producing and selling toxic alcohol. The arrests were made on Saturday, according to Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior.
The Nepalis arrested are Bhuvanlal Tamang and Narayan Prasad Basyal. The other detainees include Indian and Bangladeshi nationals.
Last week, 23 people died in Kuwait after consuming toxic alcohol, of whom 16 were Nepalis. Over 160 people affected by the toxic drinks are receiving treatment in local hospitals, including 36 Nepalis. Alcohol consumption is prohibited in Kuwait.
