Kathmandu, August 16: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Ravi Lamichhane, who was in Rupandehi Jail for his involvement in a cooperative fraud case, has been transferred to Kathmandu by the security agencies amid a huge crowd of activists.
A large number of party leaders, activists and supporters were gathered at the Tribhuvan International Airport premises and along the way to welcome Lamichhane. In view of the challenges in crowd management, the police administration has taken him to Nakhku Jail under a tight security cordon.
On Saturday, Lamichhane was transferred from Bhairahawa Jail to Nakhku Jail. It was only on Friday that the Prison Department sent him a letter to implement the decision to close the prison.
Party leaders and activists gathered outside the Tribhuvan International Airport and Nakhu Jail as soon as the news of his arrival from the airport was received.
