Kathmandu, Aug 14: Police have arrested two more people accused of being involved in a racket that removed bones and ashes from a body being cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat and traded them.

Those arrested are Ramnandan Thakur, 42, originally from Lalbandi Municipality-2 in Sarlahi and currently living in Kapan, Budhanilkantha Municipality-12, Kathmandu, and Mishrilal Yadav, 41, originally from Balan-Bihul Rural Municipality-6 in Saptari and now residing in Gaurighat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7.

According to police, Thakur is accused of purchasing bones and ashes, while Yadav allegedly assisted in the purchase. Police said they recovered from Thakur a plastic packet containing a substance that appeared to be bone powder and ashes.

Earlier, police had detained Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, also known as Jeevanath Dhakal, and Binayak Mainali for allegedly removing bones from a body and selling them.

They are accused of taking bones along with ashes from a burning body on pyre number two at Pashupati Aryaghat on the afternoon of Aug 7 and selling them. Dhakal and Mainali are being held in the custody of Gaushala Police Circle for investigation.
