Kathmandu, August 11: The Nepal Airlines Corporation has denied false reports that appeared in the media and clarified that the management didn’t misuse the aircraft.
Recently, reports appeared in some media that the executive chairman misused the aircraft for his personal use, which was false, biased, and misleading.
In a press release signed by NAC spokespersons, Subash Dangi and Manoj Kumar Shah (Technical), it is stated that no aircraft was diverted to Hong Kong to carry back its executive chairman to home. The EC returned home from the scheduled flight from Hong Kong to Kathmandu.
The Kathmandu-Dammam sector flight was cancelled due to a technical problem in one of the aircraft of the Corporation and the passengers of the sector were provided with accommodation and meals facilities at the expense of the Corporation as per the rules of the International Aviation Organization. Also, arrangements were made to take the passengers stranded in the sector to their destinations through alternative flights the next day.
The Dammam sector, which was scheduled to take off immediately, was cancelled due to a sudden technical problem in an aircraft flying according to the regular schedule.
The Corporation operates flights to Hong Kong to maintain the effectiveness of its flight schedule by not affecting another flight after the suspension of one flight. On that day’s flight, the Corporation’s executive chairman and the team had only a chance to return.
The visit of the team led by the executive chairman of the Corporation to Hong Kong was held to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of Nepal-Hong Kong flights in accordance with the plan formally approved a month ago to expand the Corporation’s flight service, strengthen the market, improve cargo and passenger service and hold direct discussions with local stakeholders.
During the program, discussions were held with the concerned travel agencies in Hong Kong and the Nepali community regarding the cargo tracking system, solving the problem of flight delays and cancellations, and the effective use of wide-body aircraft.
The presence of the Corporation’s executive chairman Ubaraj Adhikari, marketing director, Tankanidhi Dahal, and senior pilot Vijay Lama, in the Hong Kong visit was focused on increasing the market and meeting the business needs by addressing the grievances of the people. The visit of the executive chairman of the Corporation was fully approved, in accordance with the rules and guided by professional requirements. The program, which was held to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of Nepal-Hong Kong flight, was held in a grand manner with the slogan “Hong Kong-Nepal flights should be operated by the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation.”
The Corporation clarified that when the executive chairman arrived in Hong Kong, he briefly attended a program organized by Nepali literature lovers there on the day of the holiday, which was misinterpreted.
The Corporation has drawn serious attention to such news written with the intention of tarnishing the image of the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation.
