Kathmandu, Aug. 11: Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir has threatened India, warning that if India builds a dam to block the waters of the Indus River, Pakistan will destroy it with missile strikes. He said Pakistan has no shortage of missiles and would use ten of them to demolish such a dam.
Speaking at a dinner event in Tampa, Florida, hosted by Pakistani-origin businessman Adnan Asad during his visit to the United States, Munir made these remarks. This is his second visit to the US in two months. “We will wait for India to build a dam on the Indus River,” he said at the event. “Once they do, we will destroy it with ten missiles. The Indus River is not India’s private property.”
He accused India of projecting itself as a global leader, saying the reality is otherwise. Munir further warned that in any future war with India, if Pakistan’s existence is threatened, the country could drag the entire region into a nuclear conflict. “We are a nuclear-armed nation,” he said. “If we feel we are sinking, we will take half the world down with us.”
