Kathmandu, August 11: The government has taken Rahul Gandhi, the main opposition leader in India's Lok Sabha, into custody after the opposition party tried to surround the Election Commission, alleging that millions of voters were tampered with in the voter list.
Delhi Police has detained some opposition MPs, including Gandhi, while they were marching towards the commission. The march was led by the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi. Earlier, all the MPs were sitting on a dharna (sit-in).
Gandhi responded by saying that he had come to the streets to save the Constitution as he was being detained. He has accused the ruling party of rigging the voter list, calling it a one-person-one-vote battle. Along with Priyanka Gandhi, the marchers included, Samajwadi Party leaders Dimple Yadav, Mahuja Moitra, and Sanjay Raut.
